Young Rider World Cup competition: Needs Reform

For many years I have watched my wife Cathy perform at the highest levels in Dressage. But I recently saw a young rider that is truly a phenomenon. Cathy has recently worked with Kassie Barteau for a week prior to Devon.
What I saw was a young rider who reminded me a lot of Cathy in her dedication to learning this sport. Kassie’s accomplishments sound almost too good to be true.

Here are some of Kassie's recent statistics:

At this writing Kassie Barteau has won more Regional and National Championships for Dressage than any other Young Rider in United States history! Here are some highlights.

2007
-Winner of both divisions and the title of USEF National Champion for FEI Advanced Young Riders in Gladstone New Jersey aboard Gabriella.

-Winner of the FEI Team Test at the NAJYRC Championships in Lexington Virginia aboard Gabriella.

-Winner of fourteen National USDF Horse of the Year Awards seven of them in the Open Division.

-Winner of ten USDF GAIG Regional Championships aboard five different horses.

2008
-Winner of both divisions and the title for the second consecutive year of the USEF FEI Advanced Young Rider National Champion in San Capistrano California aboard Gabriella.

-Winner of the FEI Young Rider Team Test at the NAJYRC in Colorado aboard Gabriella.

-Winner of nine USDF GAIG Regional Championships aboard five different horses.

-Winner of the FEI Young Riders Team Individual and Freestyle at the NEDA Fall CDI in Saugerties aboard Gabriella.

-Winner and second place for the FEI Young Riders Team and Individual at the CDI Dressage at Devon with Gabriella and GP Raymeister respectively.

-Winner of the Young Rider Freestyle CDI Dressage at Devon aboard Gabriella.

The fact that another rider earned one high score at a competition at which Kassie did not compete and will be representing the US in the World Cup, but who has never been placed higher than Kassie in a head to head competition, leads me to conclude that there is something wrong with the system and it needs to be reformed.
